
Our Mission
The Moon Youth Wrestling Club has been organized for the purpose of developing wrestlers that are committed to and enjoy the sport of wrestling. The goal is achieved by promoting good sportsmanship; developing a sold work ethic; developing a positive attitude, improving physical fitness and developing fundamentally sound wrestling. The Moon Youth Wrestling Club will aid the program and the coaching staff through fundraising activities to provide the appropriate equipment, facilities, and to promote the wrestling program throughout the communities we serve.
About Our Program
Our youth program practices are divided by experience level to ensure your wrestler gets the best training to improve his/her skill set. Experienced “Open” wrestlers (3rd year and above or invited novice wrestlers) practice every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Novice wrestlers (1st and 2nd year wrestlers, along with hand selected open wrestlers) practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Head Coaches Steve Heleniak and Zane Brumbaugh will lead instruction in the room, and assistance coaches are there to promote learning and safety. Wrestling is the Fairest Sport for EVERY child: Kids will wrestle other kids of approximately the same age and weight. For example, in Youth Wrestling, the age categories are 6 and under; 8 and under; 10 and under; 12 and under. Ages for tournaments are generally determined by the child’s age as of 1/1 of that current seasons year. Weight classes are in five pounds increments (for example the 65 pound weight class would include kids from 61 to 65 pounds). It assures the kids only wrestle against kids their size.
